                       David Jerrard

 began his yachting career in Antibes in the South of France in 1964, initially crewing aboard superyachts and subsequently working as a freelance delivery skipper for yacht brokers, owners and charter companies.

 Since then David has skippered a wide variety of boats, sail and power, both professionally and for pleasure, in many parts of the world and is a long time member of the Ocean Cruising Club.


David became a Royal Yachting Association and Irish Sailing Association Yachtmaster Instructor, for sail and power, in 1991 and has taught the RYA and ISA cruising schemes for both sail and power since then.

 He has taught shorebased courses and practical courses afloat in America, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Ireland instructing recreational sailors and professional superyacht captains and crew.


 For many years David was Chief Examiner and National Trainer for the Irish Sailing Association’s Yachtmaster cruising scheme and led the training and assessment of  ISA Yachtmaster examiners.


David is an accomplished amateur yacht designer and builder. His first design was 21 feet, the next one 36 feet and he is currently finishing a 41 foot blue water ocean sailing yacht.

    But actual practical experience

   is far more important than paper certificates.
